How To Run A Business Without Begging The “Seven Figure Marketing Bros” (Step 2)

Yesterday’s email might have seemed simple.

Too simple, maybe.

But that’s the thing… business is simple. Easy? No. Simple? Yes.

Let me show you:

Now that you have your customer-created product, in order to push the big numbers you need this:

A Funnel

Now, I’m not talking about your typical IM funnel with OTOs etc. If you have that, great, that’s a good start.

But a BUSINESS is itself an entire funnel.

And good businesses (online or off) ALL have these 4 important funnel-esque elements:

1. Lead Capture System

Emails. Phone numbers. Physical addresses. Whatever.

If you want to kick the JV traffic habit, you start by collecting information from EVERYONE that interacts with your business.

How you do that is up to you.

There are all kinds of bait for all kinds of fish.

It’s the fisherman that makes the difference.

Sidenote: Let me give you my #1 lead capture secret…

In 2014, website cookies are just as good as email addresses (more on this tomorrow).

If you aren’t capturing leads, you aren’t running a business.

2. Upsells

Upsells, cross-sells etc.

You can’t build an entire business on a single product.

Think: TOMS Shoes.

How many products do they have?

A shoe, right?

Wrong.

Not only do they have multiple TYPES of shoes in various sizes, shapes and colors, but they have OTHER accessories as well.

That’s why they make a lot of money.

McDonalds?

“Would you like fries with that?”

One dimensional businesses make one dimensional profits.

If you offer a service, add information products and/or coaching.

If you run an info product business, then add services etc.

3. Recurring-ness

This doesn’t have to be an offer, it could be a newsletter, it could be a podcast, it could be a vlog…

The point is, real businesses try and infiltrate themselves into the lives of individuals… not just sell them something.

There is a huge difference.

This is why I mail every. single. day.

I’m trying to get inside your head. I want you to think about me when you are watching TV and a little voice pops into your head saying “Shouldn’t you be adding some recurring-ness to your business?”

But it takes work, so few people actually do it.

A lot of online types show up when there is something to sell and then disappear again.

They have the bad kind of recurring-ness.

You want the good kind.

And the cool part is that you don’t have to be THAT good to benefit from this. All you have to do is show up consistently and you’ve already beaten half the field.

4. A Profitable Retargeting Campaign

Yep.

Retargeting will make you a TON of money.

In tomorrow’s email I will talk a little bit about retargeting and share some of my favorite free resources for getting started. But let me put it to you like this, here are some recent email comments from new clients of mine:

“Well that was fun getting chased around online by that blonde lady of yours [referencing one of my ads]. I’m sold, how do I start?”

“Ha! One of the best retargeting campaigns I’ve seen. I just kept clicking to see what would happen next. Do you have room for a muscle beach this week [referencing a service package of mine]?”

And it goes on and on like this.

All the big companies do it.

Some do it with direct mail.

Some do it with follow up phone calls.

Some do it with Facebook ads.

Either way, retargeting = recurring-ness = reminding = retention = really good money.

Take a minute right now and give your business a diagnostics test.

Do you have all 4 of these in place?

If you do, then you don’t have to rely on JV traffic to make money.

If you don’t…

Well, give me one more chance tomorrow to convince you that this stuff really works.

Check your inbox tomorrow for the 3rd and final part.

To your success,

Mike
