How often do you stop (and really think) to investigate your own ill-informed opinions? Opinions that could be potentially holding you back from getting precisely what you want/need at this moment in your life?
Let me give you an example:
My very first goal as an entrepreneur was to make $3,000 per month. ($100/day).
I literally thought this was impossible. I thought you had to be lucky, connected, attractive, a sleazy-salesman etc.
Then, I made $3,000 a month.
My next goal was to crack $10,000 per month.
Phew! I knew FOR SURE that goal was impossible.
Turns out… I was wrong again.
Then, I made a goal to publish and sell 500 copies of a novel I wrote.
This was gonna be the goal that would prove my negative mindset right! There was no way in this rock we call Earth that I was gonna sell 500 copies of my book… especially as a self-published author.
Then I sold 10,000 copies in 3 months.
My point is this: How often do you actively assess your opinions? How often do you really investigate the truth behind your conclusions?
My new motto (in copywriting, business, and life) is this:
Test first. Make conclusions later.
How do you know your product isn’t good enough? Have you tested it in the market?
Are you SURE you can’t be a full-time trapeze artist? Are you 100% sure that you have ALL the information, that you have exhausted ALL the opportunities there are for making a living swinging from a bar in skin tight sequins?
Then why did you give up?
Chances are you have a set of ill-informed opinions RIGHT NOW that are keeping you from breaking through that glass ceiling that you are trying to break.
Take a second and do yourself a favor… and find out if the assumption you have made REALLY is true… or if you are just using assumptions to keep yourself from facing your biggest fear:
Success.
