Think on this:
A mother bear experiences no fear in defense of her cubs. Why?
Because her focus is entirely outside of herself.
I have really bad days where work is that last thing I want to do.
I complain as much as anyone else.
I am a human being.
But the reality is, that to me, my customers/clients/readers are my family.
It is THEIR MONEY that I live off of.
It is THEIR FAITH and LOVE of my products and services that keeps my businesses afloat.
When I say, “Please trade me your money for this thing that I have created” and they DO… that is a very special relationship. Very special indeed. One that I must work every day to make myself worthy of.
When you can make that mindset change from:
Customers = People who I take money from
To
Customers = The group of people I care most deeply about
Your natural instinct then becomes that of the mother bear.
To give, provide, protect, support etc. Without thought for yourself or your pocket.
And THEN adding value becomes something you ARE instead of something you have to actively DO. It lessons the burden of trying to break free of the ghetto mindset that says, “You should get paid for your work” and puts you on the higher path, the higher plane, that of giving selflessly.
And the best part is that it trickles down through all of your work. When you BECOME that person, it touches every part of your life and the things that you produce.
And people will be attracted to that.
They will want to work with you.
They will want to trade their money for the things that you create.
And the selling process will have become a process of sharing.
